Sonallah Ibrahim

was born 1937. In 1959 he was sentenced to seven years of jail because of political activities. His first novel Smell of it (1966) was published in English in 1971. In Egypt it was only allowed to be published uncensored after a 20 years delay. Ibrahims work evolves around corruption, exploitation and the increasing influence of the USA in the Arabian region.
